Andrew Thomas Leonards is a Trial Attorney at The Johnson Firm and a retired Louisiana State Police Master Trooper with nearly two decades of law enforcement experience. He brings insider knowledge of police procedures to criminal defense, allowing him to effectively challenge evidence and enforcement practices.
A recognized authority in impaired driving cases, Andrew served as the Region II Impaired Driving Coordinator and an instructor with the LSP Training Academy, specializing in the Intoxilyzer 5000/9000 and NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. He has handled more than 700 impaired driving investigations and conducted 158 Drug Recognition Expert evaluations.
Andrew continues to instruct and train law enforcement and legal professionals nationwide and maintains instructor-level certifications in DRE, SFST, Radar/Lidar, and Taser protocols. In 2018, he received the Liberty Bell Award for defending an arrestee’s constitutional rights, underscoring his commitment to justice.
Admitted by the Louisiana Supreme Court to Practice in Louisiana in 2023.
