46-Year-Old Hushiar Faris Killed By Gunshot Wound and Car Crash

It would appear as if the final moments of Hushiar Faris Sumo’s life were quite horrifying and painful. The 46-year-old from Houston had two separate significant events taking place at the same time that ultimately led to his death on September 23.

Sumo was alone in his car early that morning at the intersection of Sam Way and L’Auberge Boulevard when his vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons, heading straight into the adjacent woods, ultimately crashing into a tree.

When the Lake Charles Police Department arrived on the scene shortly after the crash, they noticed that he was also wounded by a gunshot. At this time it’s unclear how he was shot and who may have shot him. Sumo was transported by ambulance to the local hospital. Sadly, he passed away at the hospital due to his injuries.

As the investigation remains ongoing, there are a lot of circumstances leading up to the crash that aren’t confirmed, but the authorities are treating this incident as a homicide. Further tests and examination may provide more clues as to Sumo’s state at the time the car veered off the road, and may determine that the wound was causing him too much discomfort to continue controlling the vehicle.

Unfortunately, this accident underscores the importance of safety in two areas of society: gun violence and driving. Gun violence has been a hot topic in our country for many years, and we hope that our community remains safe. While on the road, it’s important to use good judgment and refrain from getting behind the wheel of a car if someone isn’t well or injured.

Like the rest of the community, The Johnson Firm is interested to see what’s revealed in this case, and we send our condolences to Sumo’s friends and family. If you or anyone you know has been the victim of violent crime or a motor vehicle accident, please contact us at (337) 433-1414.
